The four main stages of the refrigeration cycle, also known as the vapor-compression cycle<\/strong>, are:<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a01.Evaporation:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>This is where the\u00a0refrigerant<\/strong>\u00a0absorbs heat from the environment it’s trying to cool.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a02.Compression:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0The\u00a0compressor<\/strong>\u00a0takes the low-pressure, low-temperature refrigerant vapor and\u00a0compresses it<\/strong>\u00a0into a high-pressure, high-temperature gas.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a03.Condensation:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>The compressed hot gas then passes through the\u00a0condenser<\/strong>, where it releases heat to the surrounding environment (usually outside air). As it loses heat, the refrigerant changes back into a liquid state.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a04.Expansion:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0The high-pressure liquid refrigerant then passes through an\u00a0expansion valve<\/strong>\u00a0(also called a throttle valve or capillary tube). This valve rapidly decreases the pressure of the refrigerant, causing it to\u00a0expand<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0cool down<\/strong>\u00a0significantly.<\/p>\n
